One Year of Blogging

I have been blogging for nearly a year and how have I found it? Very challenging at times. I have broken the golden rule of blogging and have slacked on my schedule of publishing once a week, numerous times. I am really bad at self promotion and have not really been pushing my blog to people or on social media and I seem to have a funny relationship with twitter – loving and hating it all at the same time!!

Blogging has definitely been a learning curve – from the challenge of trying to set up my website, to putting pen to paper to write (or for me opening notes app on my iPad to type)…it has been a great experience and most of all it is a great accomplishment for me. I have always loved to write, as a child and into my teens – mainly fictional stories about any and everything, and I loved it! What blogging has shown me, is that my love of writing hasn’t left me, it is still there and I still want to write and talk about any and everything most of the time. I am on a learning journey to make whatever is on my mind, events in my life, into a story (my story) that others would want to hear, that I would want to read.

I have learnt that self doubt is very much alive and thriving for me and I doubt myself a lot, but once I push through that and don’t think just do…I can do it! And I have done this. What I need to do is just get myself into a routine of blogging and vlogging and just do it consistently.

Video aka YouTube – is my biggest challenge, I worry about everything when I am there in front of the camera, do people want to hear what I have to say…if I get the slightest negative comment or feedback I want to go into hiding. I just need to again Don’t think, just do.

I have no idea what the end game is for me…for now I am just going to continue with my blog and keep going, grow an audience and commit to publishing once a week. I love the process and really enjoy the feeling of sheer pleasure I gain from writing and publishing a post, choosing a photo and making it look polished and professional. I’m currently reading the book, theMillion Dollar Blog” by  Natasha Courtenay-Smith and am gaining some much knowledge and many helpful tips on world of blogging. So let’s see what I can learn and take forward into my blogging life.

My one piece of advice from this is…if you have an idea and want to do…go for it! You can do it and whether it starts slow or takes off immediately, it is all there for the taking! You have one life, don’t keep your dreams, talents and desires hidden – show and share them with the world….you are 100% unique and that is what makes you and your work extra special…
