Working mum - sleep early

In pursuit of healthier me – Getting to bed early…

This I really need to work on. I’m naturally a night owl, but with the kids, working etc I know that getting to bed too late isn’t helping me. As mentioned in my “What highly effective people do before 8am“. I try to wake up at 5am to get in a workout and meditation (which has now become my miracle morning) before the kids are up and my day begins. Waking at 5am does leave me feeling dog tired in the evenings/night time, but that is when my inner child comes out to play and I try to ignore those feelings and stay up as late as possible, by watching TV, on social media…

It is like my mind is saying there is no possible way you can sleep now, the kids are in bed, this is your time!! Now I am not saying that I try to go to bed at 8pm, but aiming for 10pm (when waking at 5am) is reasonable and will give me the much required 7 hours sleep (maybe 9:30pm would be even better), but I doubt I can do that. I just need to be strict with myself and not try to do everything every evening. Some evenings if I chose to watch TV for a few hours then I will not be able to be on Pinterest pinning for hours, past my bedtime of 10pm.

I do regret my choice in the mornings of staying up late and getting 6 hours or less of sleep, when I can’t wake or I spend the rest of the day in a sleepy daze hooked on caffeine to get me through the day and counting down to bed time again. I always start my day with the best intentions and believe that I am going to make the right choice with regards to bed times, but I never do. Something has to change…So i am making a promise to myself and all of you reading, I will be in bed ready to sleep for 10pm on a weeknight. This means me getting in bed 30 mins beforehand. I will read a few pages of my book to help me unwind and vow not to open up my Pinterest, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram apps on my Ipad or phone during this time….Wish me luck!
